2008 Season - Week 9

Owners Hall of Fame

The rules are simple - each year one owner (past or present) will be honoured by the current owners. All you have to do is email me the name of the owner you wish to place in the Hall of Fame, Owners Wing. Email me your vote by November 16th. Please note there is no room for narcissism in the BUMS - YOU MAY NOT VOTE FOR YOURSELF (or Cheryl or Gareth as they have already been elected). Trading Day 2 Trading Day 2 will be before the week 11 fixtures on Sunday November 16th. We will trade at 4:30pm before the Sky doubleheader and this will set your line-up for the rest of the season. After then the only way you will get to change your team is if one of your players is placed on injured reserve. Chiefs Franchise RB Laurence Maroney was put on IR a couple of weeks ago but he cannot be replaced until Trading Day 2. Let me know how you intend to trade:- in person, by email, phone or internet. If you don’t want to trade, do nothing. Thanksgiving Day Just another date for your diary, Thursday 27th November will see the annual BUMS gathering in the evening for two games of football, Tennessee @ Detroit followed by Seattle @ Dallas, and a huge feast prepared by Cheryl. Another Average Week It looks like Trading Day 2 can’t come too soon as this week we had our least successful combined week of the season. In total the BUMS scored a disappointing 309 points, the lowest weekly total since we scored just 296 in week 4 of last season. As we pass the halfway point of the season we are on course for a season total of 6,197 points which would be the lowest total since 2001 (the year we expanded to 16 owners). So far the lowest score was 6,611 back in 2001. Only Wayne has made the Hall of Fame this season (week 2). In week 4 Mark H scored 49, missing the Hall by just 1 point. On average we have 3.85 visits to the Hall per season so we need some owners to step up. The good news is we have had nobody in the Hall of Shame this year. 16 people have made the Hall of Shame in our 13 seasons so far and the last time we went the whole year with nobody Shamed was 2004. BUMS on Seats. We will be at HQ on Sunday evening from 6pm to see the Sky games Buffalo @ New England followed by Indianapolis @ Pittsburgh with Chicago @ Tennessee and Kansas City @ San Diego on the red button. We’ll be at Johnny’s on Monday from 6:30pm for the key NFC East Sunday Night game (New York Giants @ Philadelphia). Note that this week features this season’s first Thursday night game as Denver travel to Cleveland, so from now on each NFL week starts on a Thursday.
